Notary Bonds
Notary Public bonds are written on a four-year basis for a term premium of $50.00 and contain $5,000. Errors & Omissions coverage. Optional coverage is also available under a Notary Public Errors & Omissions bond which protects the notary public personally if they were to be sued. These bonds are also written on a four year basis. The premium for the package is $85 ($45 for the Notary Public bond and $40 for the Notary Public Errors & Omissions bond).
We will need the following information in order to issue the bond(s):
Copy of the Notary Public Appointment Application that you must complete for the Nevada Secretary of State. You can obtain a copy of the application here:
http://www.sos.state.nv.us/licensing/notary/pdf/NotaryApplication.pdf
Your check in the amount of either $50.00 or $85.00 depending on which package is required. Checks to be made payable to "McFadden Insurance Agency".
We also offer Group Notary Errors & Omissions coverage for businesses that have a number of notaries employed. This coverage is written on a blanket basis and the annual charge is $19.50 per notary public. This coverage allows you the flexibility to substitute employees. Should an employee who is a notary public terminate his/her employment, you can add a replacement notary public for no additional charge. We would only need to know the number of notaries that you wish to have covered under the bond.
Once the notary public bond has been obtained, the person that has applied to become a notary public must do the following:
- 1. File the bond, together with their notary public application, with the County Clerk located at 200 Lewis Avenue, Las Vegas, Nevada or 500 S. Grand Central Pkwy 1st Floor, Las Vegas, Nevada. They will need cash or a business check made payable to the County Clerk for $20 to cover the oath fee. The County Clerk will administer the oath and give them a receipt that must be filed with the Secretary of State.
- 2. A check for the application fee in the amount of $35.00 payable to the Nevada Secretary of State must be sent. Their address is 101 N. Carson Street #3, Carson City, NV 89701.
- 3. The Nevada Secretary of State will issue the Notary Public certificate and mail it to the Notary Public. At that time, you must obtain a notary public stamp which can be purchased from an office supply company or rubber stamp company. You must provide them with the Certificate Number located at the bottom left hand corner of the certificate.
